RESOLVED: PolicyException error after upgrading CU in WebClient

I upgraded NAV 2017 CU 12 to CU 20. Couldn't just copy&paste files and folders as I experienced other issues like dev environment crashing when enter Code editor. So had to uninstall and install NAV again.

After that the WebClient doesn't work anymore. Get the following error in the browser:

All I can find in the web is that the application pool need to be changed to "Load User Profile = True" under advanced settings. Had issues with that before on a different install where we had to set it to False as there is a bug with NAV2017 and Windows 2016 when using a wild card SSL cert. Anyway, changed it but didn't work. Trust Level also set to Full. Running out of ideas now!

Post and Print prints twice

Hey everyone,

we are getting a weird issue with the post + print CU.
On a sales order, we click on Post and Print button on the actions tab in the ribbon. It will print the document. THEN it will pull up the request page and then print again.

This is an upgrade from an older version of nav to Nav2017. We are using CUpdate 10 (I believe) and there is nothing that I can find in the CU80 or 82 that would trigger it to print twice.

Anyone have any suggestions or questions?

NAV18 VSCode: Referencing customized objects in object designer

Hi all and thanks for a great site.
Up until now I have found an answer to all of my questions during the years just by searching for them here. Unfortunately, this is not the case for this question.

I have set up an NAV 2018 database with VSCode and AL language (the vsix from the installation package, not the market place since this seems to be missing some features). In this case I have a third party product which I need to install outside VSCode as a FOB in object designer. The objects do not touch any standard objects. However, what I was expecting was that when I update the symbols in VSCode, these objects should present themselves before me.

(FYI: Local database, not in the cloud!)

This is not what is happening...
Does anyone know if there is anyway of referencing I.E. a codeunit in VSCode to a codeunit in object designer (object id greater or equal to 50 000)?
I am not very keen on upgrading the third party solution to an extension since there is 70-80 objects in there.
And yes, I have used the txt2al-converter, but this only gets me so far with lots of other trouble when trying to compile tables, pages etc. since they all rely on each other. Therefore this is not what I would like to do.

How can I Open payment journal only for specific journal batch/user type

I have different user 'types'

New field in the Gen. Journal Batch table (232) "User Type"
User Setup new field "User Type".

When the user opens the Payment Journal, I can filter on the batch table if they look it up.

Problem:

If the last used batch was for BANK which is not within the filter, that batch opens up with whatever lines are in that journal.

I need to prevent the 'last used' and force a selection from the allowed list of batches.

I cannot find the insertion point for my filter code.

Any suggestions please.

NAV 2013 service random hang

Hi All,

I got issue with NAV 2013 service, it random hang and when we go to check it show the service is running but all client cannot connect to server even in server level, it show error as below.

after restart NAV service it work as normal but I can't find the root cause why it hang.

does anyone have solution?

What does this mean for us? If you book a Navision invoice to a natural person you have personal data in there: name and address. According to GDPR you should delete it after a while. ???

This is the most surprising thing I have heard but there are others. Can someone who knows this stuff summarize it what we need to do for it?

Job Queue Category in NAV 2017

Hello,

with NAV 2017 the job queue handling is differing to NAV 2016.
In NAV 2016 I was able to manage with the job queue category which NAS should run which job queue entries.

In Nav 2017 I can define also define the job queue category but for what reason?

It looks like the standard Data Exchange functionality does not support a generic export.

Is there in NAV 2017 a standard way of exporting an arbitrary table to a text file?

Profile configure truncate xml

Hi,

We have configured new profiles/roles in NAV using the -configure start parameter.
The configuration has been an ongoing process with many steps.
It seems that NAV saves each step in the process on the profile, which makes the profile data massive.
When we export to XML file, it seems all steps are saved.

Example on how i guess things are stored:
Step 1: We configure genral journal moving a report from tab 3 to tab 2
Step 2: We configure genral journal moving a report from tab 2 to tab 4
Step 3: We give report new name
Step 4: We configure genral journal moving a report from tab 4 to tab 1

At this point every step are stored.
In my book we would only need to save step 3 and 4 because step 1 and 2 are obsolete.

How can we truncate this data, so only active changes are saved? Or am I wrong about this? :)

NAV 2017 Workflows - Rever / Apply / Discard values response

Hello!!
I would like some help if someone has already setup a workflow similar to mine to understand how the 3 responses work since I've spent a lot of time without any luck.

What I want to achieve is to setup an approval workflow for Vendors where the initial value of the field will not change until the change is approved. I've used the standard Vendor approval workflow from the templates but what I've noticed is that any change you make even though the approval is rejected or cancelled the changed value remains. From what I understand I can work around this with the following responses : 1. Revert the value of the <Field> field on the record and save the change. 2. Apply the new values 3. Discard new values.

However I've tried to add these responses with several methods on my events but I haven't managed to make it work. The way I believe it should work is by placing the "Revert the value of the <Field> field on the record and save the change" response to the first event which is "A vendor record is changed." However when I do it this way when the approver goes on the Record that needs to be approved the Approve function is not there even though the record is displayed normally in the Approval entries table with Open status...

Has anyone managed to built this kind of workflow so I can get some help????

Update ClickOnce Version by Replacing Deployment Files with New CU files

Hi,

how do we update the clickonce clients?

Right now we have clickonce packages on a server xxx.yyy/customer/clickonce/ClickOnceDeploymentFiles/ ...

We know we need to make the new client files available, So that when the User open his ClickOnce the Client will be updates to the new Version. but how?
What I tried till now (2 different ways):
First Way:
- I replaced the .../Deployment/Applicationsfiles folder with the neu CU deployment Files. But I didn't replace the manifest!
- I also updated the manifest version No. with the new Bulid no.
- Also I made the required minim version to be 9.0.0.0

Results:
When the user open his click once is starts normally & nothing happens :(




Second Way:
I made a new installation for the new Bulid + I renamed the new Folder to have the same name like the old deployment folder + I deleted the old Deployment folder!
Results:
When the user open his click once it gave back an error & it cannot start the client, I have to install ClickOnce then it will work! --> I want to avoid this


So can anyone tell me please how can I make Clickone to update it self once the user open it? We have almost 50 user which uses clickonce, I donot want to make a new deployment! coz if i did so i have to deinstall the old client and reinstall the new client on 50 Pcs.

WebService reference not updated in .Net

I have a NAV page published as a webservice but the client .NET app can't update the Reference.cs file which contains definitions for all classes, enums, fields, etc from the webservice. In Visual Studio I tried updating the web references but still no help. For example there is the following enum definition in Reference.cs:

public enum WarehouseShipmentList_Fields {

/// <remarks/>
No,

/// <remarks/>
Location_Code,

....

}

At the bottom of the enum there should be the value:
/// <remarks/>
PickingType

... but it's not appearing, although when loading the page through the browser it shows the missing field (see the attached screenshots). Can you please help?

Escaping characters in XML for a SOAP request

Hi everyone,

I have a little issue generating an XML. At first look, it seems that the XML is OK, but I find problem when I try to make a request with it.

The XML should have a field like this:
<collectionDateTime><![CDATA[2017-12-14T08:10:00]]></collectionDateTime>

I create the field in the XML like this:
lvl2XMlNode := XMLDocOut.createNode(1,'collectionDateTime','');
ConsigmentXMlNode.appendChild(lvl2XMlNode);
DomTextNode := XMLDocOut.createTextNode('<![CDATA[2017-12-14T11:35:00]]>');
lvl2XMlNode.appendChild(DomTextNode);

At the first look, I open the XML file with the briowser, and seems to be fine:

But the issue is that, this XML file is sent in a request in text format, and if I open it with the editor, I can see this:
collectionDateTime>&lt;![CDATA[2017-12-14T11:35:00]]&gt;</collectionDateTime>

So that provokes a marshalling error in the web service. How can I add the character correctly? I've tried to scape them in different ways, but i can't find the correct approach.

Any hint will be really appreciated.

NAV 2018 Installation - Setup.EXE quits with no errors or warnings

Hi All,

I am trying to install NAV 2018 on Windows 2016 Standard server. The trouble is that when I click Setup.exe from the root of the downloaded image file, it asks for elevated permissions, and granted that, it quits immediately with no errors or warnings. There is nothing left in Event Log either

I am trying to install NAV using my account, which is a member of local Administrator group, but it is not a member of Domain Admins or such.

Any clue please?

I have a doubt related deemed export under GST. If i am supplier then i will charge GST from customer or not ?

what is the refund case in this? how it will works in Navision? It will hit customer ledger entry or not?
